Stopping AIS Movement in Bait Trade
Ohio and other Great Lakes states face a threat from many aquatic invasive species (AIS), including bighead and silver carp (Asian carp) and are working to reduce the impact they may have on Ohio’s native species, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The ODNR Division of Wildlife is looking at several pathways that Asian carp may use to enter inland waters and the Great Lakes, including the inadvertent transfer of live fish through the bait trade.

Invasive Species Threaten Nevada - Over than 1 million acres have been burned by wildfires this year in Nevada, including nearly 450,000 acres torched in the Martin Fire north of Winnemucca this summer. The blaze was fueled in large part by the non-native cheatgrass and wiped out both prime cattle grazing lands and some of the state’s premier habitat for the protected sage grouse.
