Trash Hunter to Remove Floating Materials
Denizens of Hyderabad can now look forward to a pleasant drive along the Hussainsagar lake, albeit the persistent foul odour.

For effective cleaning and collection of floating material like hyacinth, algal weeds, plastic bags, coconut shells and other trash, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has procured Floating Trash Collector from United States.

The new equipment would help in improving the air and water quality by reducing the pollution levels around the lake as well as help clear floating material, weeds and hyacinth on the surface of water.

Residents Unhappy with Chemical Treatment to Control Curly Leaf Pondweed - Birchwood residents pride themselves on being the “Bluegill Capital of the World”, but are worried that may change now that officials have begun using herbicides to treat curly leaf pondweed in Big Chetac Lake. The first application took place this spring and was supposed to be on a 90-acre test area, but the chemical drifted more than 1 ½ miles killing most of the vegetation in an 800-acre area of the lake.
