The Pennsylvania Lake Management Society mission is to promote the further understanding of ponds, lakes, reservoirs and impoundments and their watersheds; the ecosystem of which they are a part; and their protection, restoration and management.

The Pennsylvania Lake Management Society (PALMS) is a non-profit, citizens’ group formed to promote understanding and comprehensive management of lakes and reservoirs and their watersheds. PALMS was created in 1989 as a chapter of the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS).

Most Poisonous Lake World Record - Since 2008, Anderson Lake has been plagued with soaring levels of anatoxin-a, a potent nerve toxin produced by blue-green algae. The safety threshold for the toxin, which can kill in four minutes after ingestion, is one microgram per liter; Anderson Lake readings were at 172,640 micrograms per liter.
