House Passes Legislation on Asian Carp Prevention in Lake Michigan
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Water Resources Development Act of 2020.
The resolution includes provisions to authorize construction at the Brandon Road Lock and Dam in Illinois, which serves as a chokepoint to prevent Asian carp and other invasive species from entering Lake Michigan.
Additionally, the WRDA includes provisions to maintain ports and harbors along Lake Michigan and expand research on shoreline erosion and elevated water levels through the Great Lakes Coastal Resiliency Study.
