Weed Harvester Deemed A Success Against Curly Leaf

Weeds were such a nuisance and so thick in Sauk Lake that it was joked one could walk across the lake with no problem. An aquatic weed harvester is helping maintain the Curly Leaf Pondweed to an environmentally safe level for the lake and for the lake users.

The aquatic plant harvester has hauled 140 loads of cut weeds per session, totaling approximately 1,000 pounds of vegetation per load.  In more recent years the weed harvester has been used less because the weed issue has all but been resolved.
