Lake Victoria Hyacinth Chopping Demo a Success!
Aquarius Systems is pleased to announce the successful completion of the World Bank and GEF financed Water Hyacinth Chopping Demonstration. The instructions for this job were short and sweet: Shred 1500 hectares (3700 acres) of water hyacinth into small pieces within 12 months. Aquarius trained and supervised several Kenyan operators to run the two Swamp Devil Aquatic Vegetation Cutters (aquatic weed cutter), Aquatic Weed Harvester (aquatic plant harvester) , Shore Conveyor and Work Boats. By running two daily shifts to take advantage of all the available daylight, the skilled Kenyan staff were able to tackle the job in only five months.

Gender-bending Chemicals in Water Supply - Researchers from the University of Calgary sampled populations of longnose dace, a silvery minnow, in Alberta’s Oldman and Bow Rivers. The Bow River flows through downtown Calgary and supplies its drinking water. Samples were taken back to the lab and dissected for further analysis and biologists then noticed that the random catch was overwhelmingly female.
