Pilot Project for Low-Maintenance Landscaping
A pilot project in the Town of Rushford could model low-maintenance landscaping for the Green Lake County Government Center. District 13 Supervisor, Thomas Traxler, Jr donated seeds and plant materials for prairie and wetland landscaping for around Rushford’s town hall building.

The restoration project in Rushford is a no-or-low maintenance landscaping plan that should help local governments balance their budgets in part by reducing costs on equipment and personnel. Jim Hebbe, the County’s Land Conservationist are reviewing a donation of approximately $10,000 in seeds and plant materials that would help to establish two rain gardens on Center property.

Hydrilla threatens the Finger Lakes - The plant hydrilla, was found late last summer in the creeks at the south end of Cayuga Lake at Ithaca. An initial control effort to beat it back last fall had failed and New York state officials have said they can only promise $50,000 in state money and possibly $380,000 in federal money could come through for this year as well.
