Boat Disinfection Station at Wolverine Lake
The Wolverine Lake Village Council has accepted the terms of a contract with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to erect a boat disinfection station at the department’s Wolverine Lake public access site.
In a movement to help mitigate the proliferation of viral hemorrhagic septicemia (VHS) and other potentially fatal fish pathogens the disinfection station will allow boats to be sprayed with a chemical solution that will kill living organisms such as zebra mussels and VHS.
The boat disinfection station will not only slow the spread of the fish diseases and aquatic invasive species, but will also help in education the public about the proper way to disinfect and clean their boats, trailers, and other marine equipment.
