Attacking Eurasian Watermilfoil in Beaver Lake
The Montana Department of Agriculture has temporarily closed Beaver Lake to watercraft, but not to anglers and swimmers. The closing is to try and stop the spread of aquatic invasive specie; Eurasian watermilfoil.
The 40 to 50 foot patch of the aquatic plant was discovered last fall and thick mats, which are designed to block sunlight from the weeds and kill the patch, were put in place last October. However, the Eurasian watermilfoil is growing up between the mats, along the edges, and in some small holes in the seams between the mats.
