DNR Won’t Poison Aquatic Plants
The Department of Natural Resources won’t use aquatic herbicides to attack invasive Eurasian water milfoil in Western Maryland’s Deep Creek Lake this year. Residents say the aquatic plant threatens recreational boating on the lake, but according to a DNR study, the milfoil is not outcompeting native aquatic plants so it will not be killed.

Christmas Lake Seeks Federal Approval to Use Potash - Zebra mussels were discovered outside of the Zequanox treatment area and the lake's water temperature is now too low for the biological pesticide to be effective so the state Department of Natural Resources is seeking federal approval to use liquid potash, or potassium chloride on the lake this fall.
