New Boat Laws to Protect Iowa Water from Aquatic Invasive Species
The Iowa DNR has put in place new laws for boaters in an attempt to protect Iowa lakes and stream from aquatic invasive species.

According to the Iowa DNR, it is currently illegal to possess or carry certain aquatic invasive species in Iowa, and beginning July 1, 2013 it will be illegal to carry any aquatic plants on water-related equipment.

Water Solider Could be Added to Michigan Prohibited Plant List - Water soldier was identified as one of the 16 “least-wanted species” aquatic invasive species at the 2013 meeting of the Council of Great Lakes Governors and Canadian Premiers. Prevention of new invasive species and stopping the spread of existing invasive species are considered vital for limiting the impacts on Michigan’s ecology, economy and natural resources.
