County to Fund Projects in Which Water Hyacinth Used in Animal Feed
Nakuru county plans to introduce a bill to address the problem of water hyacinth in Lake Naivasha. Water hyacinth is spreading at an alarming rate and now covers a third of the lakes surface.

The aquatic weed has always been looked at in a negative way, but Nakuru county would now to emulate communities around Lake Victoria that are positively using the weed.

Water hyacinth can be used to manufacture fertilizers and animal feeds in addition to using the plant material to make products such as Ipad cases and notebooks.

Invasive Algae Found for the First Time in a Wisconsin Lake - An invasive algae spreading quickly through Michigan inland lakes has been found for the first time in Wisconsin — in Little Muskego Lake in Waukesha County. The state Department of Natural Resources said that starry stonewort, a native to Europe and Asia, was discovered in the 506-acre lake in September.
