Once Overrun With Carp, Delavan Lake is Now One of Wisconsin’s Premier Fisheries
Delavan lake is one of the most heavily fished and productive waters in southern Wisconsin and is well-known as one of the state’s premier fisheries. That wasn’t always the case.
Once overrun with carp and plagued by turbid water and a lack of aquatic vegetation, the lake was rehabilitated by the Department of Natural Resources.
The process included a rotenone treatment to kill all the fish and subsequent restocking.

Woodstock Township Votes NO to Herbicide Use
- The Woodstock Township board voted 4 -1 in favor of using mechanical harvesting to address the problem of invasive plant species in Devils Lake. Presented with three options to combat aquatic vegetation in the coming years, the board chose to use mechanical harvesting this year.
