Herbicide Use Resumes on Half Moon Lake
Last year, after five years of annual herbicide treatments to Half Moon Lake to control an aggressive foreign weed, the city took a year off.

This spring an examination of the lake showed the nasty weed, curly-leaf pondweed, was coming back with a vengeance.

Officials had hoped that five consecutive years of herbicide applications would be enough to control curly-leaf pondweed, but the weed is persistent.

The herbicide application on the 154-acre lake is going to cost $35,000 this year.
