Brazilian Elodea
Brazilian Elodea (Egeria Densa)
A common waterweed found in streams, ponds, springs, and lakes.  It grows rapidly and creates dense mats that crowd out native plants.
Eel Grass
Eel Grass (Vallisneria Americana)
Grown in dense beds in shallow bays, coves, tidal creek, and estuaries; they can displace native plants, block dams, waterways, and impede drainage.
Hydrilla
Hydrilla (Hydrilla Verticillata)
Found in all types of water bodies, it grows and forms dense mats on the surface that interfere with recreation and destroy fish and wildlife habitats.

Minnesota Aquatic Plant Control May Require Permit - Aquatic plants serve many important functions in lakes; they prevent shoreline erosion, stabilize bottom sediments, provide habitat for fish and wildlife, and tie up nutrients that might otherwise grow algae. The removal of too many aquatic plants can impair their ability to perform these important functions.
